Aiap (Associazione italiana proget- tazione per la comunicazione visiva) proudly presents Design Per, an event unique in Italy, rare in Europe.
Design Per
aims to offer a variety of stimuli, debates and reflections via considerations made through visual communication projects approached from various perspectives.  Design Per will take place September 27 - October 1, 2011 in Cagliari, Sardinia.  Events will include workshops for both students and professionals, exhibitions, roundtable conversations, conferences, seminars, featuring close to 50 scholars, designers, and professionals who guide us with their knowledge in numerous topics of modern graphic design.

Trame e tessuti is the theme of Design Per 2011.  Networking is a fundamental key for understanding the contempo- rary world. The elements of traditional communication – elements designed, the content and modes of transmitting ideas – face themselves in continuous relation with several other objects, artifacts, speeches, simple links, approaches and projects, both visible and invisible, in a dynamic and complex fashion. After the myth of progress, based on the production of physical objects and the construction of parts which was at the foundation of birth and evolution of design, today, the textile civilization, more than any other is considered to be a metaphor for the contemporary.

tramiteSud

Introducing this discussion in Sardinia, one of the oldest, most interesting textile civilizations in the Mediterra- nean is not a mere casualty.
From the woven patterns of cloth taken from the urban fabric, from streets and paths that curve away from the city, crossing places and countries where looms weave, one can   envision the vanishing trails left by ships in the sea that surrounds Sardinia.
Routes repeated through the millenniums chain the island to every shore of the Mediterranean.  Time ago some crowded of men and goods are now abandoned, others still flourish. Some are eagerly awaited and others feared. The history of Sardinia is the history of the Mediterranean and we preserve a sign of all its peoples in the language, the toponym, the traditions and rites, in the designs which ornate costumes and carpets in a game of interpretations and references that become a metaphor for this current day civilization where the past and future intertwine in unusual ways.
With tramiteSud we want to relink these routes, we want to re-meet and reintroduce ourselves through our common language of visual design.
We hope to create a lively platform that ultimately achieves to bring us an equal exchange of ideas, experiences and visions, intended to deepen and repeat over time.
TramiteSud is an open call for all visual designers who live and work in countries bordering on the shores of the Mediterranean. Those who wish to participate are asked to design a
poster that represents a personal idea of patterns of trade and freedom that we would like to see interlacing in our sea.
